Silver Lake, Ca
Every August my mom's family takes a couple days and goes camping up by Kirkwood (for non-Californians Kirkwood is a well known Ski Area about 1 hour from Lake Tahoe) . There is a beautiful mountain lake called Silver Lake and we always camp on the side where the lake runs down through these huge granite boulders. It is always a great time and this year was special in a few ways- one because we hadn't been since Rayah was a little over a year as we were in KY, and two because my cousin, Travis , was able to get leave from the army before he shipped off to Afghanistan (his brother, Ross, is in IRaq right now) so we got to say good-bye. Here are a few pics of our trip...
Ashlyn had a ball in the freezing cold water- going down God-made waterslides. Rayah thought it to be a bit cold and enjoyed dancing on the rocks and getting her feet wet here and there.
This one of my grandparents just makes me smile----love that lasts! They are too cute!
Ashlyn saying hi- though it appears she just finished her Olympic debut in water gymnastics or something....TADAAAH
Rayah. and her Papa and Oma on top of the BIG rock that was right behind our campsite.....ok so it was probably 20ft tall atleast. Rayah was fascinated by the random volcanic rocks and massive boulders here and there-----it must have taken a big volcanoe to spew those everywhere.
