rkers (if there is a technical name I sincerely apologize for my hot air balloon ignorance) as they tried to keep the balloons tethered down against the slight breeze and then as they lit them up from time to time. We picked our favorites and even tried to when a prize by arriving first to whatever balloon lit up around us- I honestly can't remembr if we won anything:) but it was fun. Well this year was a little different. We showed up earlier, before dusk, to get a little dinner and as we ate our little dinner the drops began to fall. At this point there was one balloon up and several others pulling out equipment to get set up also as to light up at dusk. Well the drops were minor- nothing serious and so we ventured over to "wait in line for 30 min to jump for 3 minutes on a jumpy thing" land- sponsored by a local grocery store- and Rayah picked a Rocket jumper and we waited. The drops were still coming and dusk was too and so a couple more balloons went up and then by the time Rayah was done jumping a couple more balloons went down. The weather that everyone kept saying would pass on through never quite made it through
but just settled. And so us and hundreds more- if not thousand + or so fled the scence with only one balloon standing as we all (other balloons included) went home. It was a sad moment but a trip to Mc D's and a 1$ sundae shared between me, Rayah, and Ashlyn made the trip a success in the eyes of 2 little girls:) and therefore their parents too.two of the 7 balloons that actually "got up"
